Tonight, my husband and I will have a delicious dinner of zucchini-potato casserole and fresh-baked bread at my parents’ house. Then, we will do one of my favorite things. We will all sit down together in the living room and read The Little Builder of Christmas Fires. Never heard of it, right? It’s a family tradition with a long story, and to me, it is Christmas.

I will most likely spend today reading over Luke Chapter 2, pondering what is inside the giant red box under our Christmas tree (wrapped in Disney Princess paper, of course), and deciding what to wear to Midnight Mass.

Tomorrow will be crazy. Bob and I will rush from house to house, enjoying family, food, presents, and fun. Tonight, though, I hope to let my mind and heart rest in some solid and beautiful truth, if only for a few hours.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” — Luke 2:10.
